Ultimate Spider-Man (2000-2009)

Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) is probably your best bet then. It's great for beginners because you don't have to have ever read a Spider-Man comic to understand what's happens. Here's the first omnibus of that run. If you like it you can find the rest here. I would recommend the Stern and DeFalco runs as well as the original one for this as well, but they're completely out of print and cost ridiculous amounts.
