It honestly doesn’t matter much. Big things with ssds is the transfer speeds and how long they will last. Transfer speeds in a ps2 really doesn’t matter because the ps2 has a hard cap and almost all modern storage devices are far faster than that threshold. (Transfer speeds only matter when you’re using something like the memory card or usb to load games. The network port for ssd and hdd are the fastest method available in soft modding) And the product age is really a toss up unless you know the brand. Something like Samsung is expected to last for ages but some of these cheap ones you never know. I’ve had some good experience with Teamgroup in the past. I’ve set up 3 consoles with their ssds and my oldest one is a 4tb that’s been around for 4-5 years and still going strong. But as you said prices have skyrocketed so their are now the price of mid range ssd
