My friend has this exact set up, and it runs really well. The B&S 5HP is a very reliable motor, and I am not surprised that your motor started right up. The attached tank is great. No mounting issues, fuel lines, draining the carb, ect. My friend asked me to unhook the governor, but I realized it was already unhooked. LOL It had been running that way for years, and it is still running that way. BTW, I usually advise people not to take off the governor. I have seen three motors self destruct without governors after fairly short periods of time. One of them was this exact motor on a vintage Kart. You will need a pull starter.
