That's very scary, we had something similar happen with our daughter a few years ago. Had the whole neighborhood looking for about 15 minutes before we found her behind some pool equipment in a neighbors backyard. She's 5 now. To keep her from opening the front door we bought a plastic container that fits around the deadbolt which is easy for adults to figure out/open but difficult for kids: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BBF7UVA
