Thanks. As it happens, my laptop is an AMD (7840u) and I already have a Thunderbolt 5 dock (Kensington SD5000T5). I have ordered the Cable Matters adapter that uses this Realtek chipset, so I suppose when I replace my laptop to Panther Lake or Nova Lake later this year or next, I'll get the 20Gb connection out of one of the downstream TB5 ports. Didn't realize that before, thanks.
