A $500 laptop with 16gb ram is going to be much worse build quality than a refurbished office grade laptop, and the refurb would probably outlast it. Looking on amazon, there are some that 'meet' the requirements but the processors are really bad (you will definitely notice this even for normie things like browsing - I used to have a laptop like that and it would take 1-2 mins to load the YouTube homepage even with fast wifi).
