How nice! 🥳 I have a couple ideas that might be very appreciated. I'm sure you can't do them all, but these are things I have finally incorporated into my sewing room after years of accumulating a large "wish list", lol. *Outlets, outlets, outlets! Besides on the walls, they would be very appreciated if you could get them extended out to the machines, or even dropped from overhead (on a pole?) for an iron or tv, etc. I never seem to have enough. Outlets are needed for sewing machines, mini irons next to machines, fans, tv's, computers, phone chargers, task lighting, and maybe more. (The next thing on my wish list... I'm considering calling an electrician to add another circuit.) I know you are putting in overhead lighting (which is awesome!) but as we get older, we need MORE light, lol. I recently bought this to help me. https://a.co/d/0fSElgUc *A LARGE flat surface is something WE ALL LOVE! Cutting fabric, pinning patterns and laying quilts flat for pinning is so much easier at cabinet height, than having to crawl around on the floor (which can be hard on the knees and unsanitary). I have a 4'x8' melamine board on my cabinets. Maybe you could pull the cubby cabinets, that are under the angled wall, as far as space allows for you to make such a large surface. *I hope you saved all of her wall art (I'm sure she treasures them!). It would be sweet to have some of those framed and rehung on her walls.🤗 *A design wall (mobile or attached to a wall). You can search the internet for ideas, but I recycled some 6' Styrofoam (that I got as packing material) and attached a banquet table size flannel-backed tablecloth to it, with the flannel side out. Cut quilting fabric will stick to it without pins, and it is used to "audition" quilt layouts. *The cubby shelves are the perfect size for fabric (we don't need 24" deep cabs for that!), but if you could attach doors to them, this would be ideal to protect fabric from fading in sunlight, and yes, even artificial light! Sorry, I got a little too excited because it has taken me awhile to finally get my wishlist checked off, so I KNOW she will be excited, too! I hope some of these ideas help your project along, and I hope you post pictures when it is done! 👏🏻😃🤗
