I understand VOC can be most anything, like fermaldahyde from plywood or out-gassing painted surfaces, or smells from cleaners. The device doesn't break it down. It's the CO2 that I see build up quickly just from my breathing in this tightly-insulated apartment. Other common asthma triggers for me are dust mites in bedding, pet dander, pollen, and mold. Pollen's especially bad this time of year with the trees in bloom. Apparently I'm allergic to that. It's good to wash off pollen and stuff when you come inside, put a dust mite cover on your mattress, shower before bed, and even put a clean towel on your pillow. I hope some of this helps.
