Let's go "old school", shall we: Foundation series by Isaac Asimov (narrated by Scott Brick [Books 1 & 3-6] and Larry McKeever [Book 2 & 7]. 2001 (A Space Odyssey) by Arthur C. Clarke (narrated by Dick Hill). Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein (I've only visually read this one but I see RC Bray is narrating the audiobook so I might give it a go; I suggest giving the movie a miss).
