Lights coming on isn’t going to do anything for mice- I’d use deterrents proven to work on mice like others have mentioned (some seem to have luck with peppermint oil-based sprays, pouches, or such around baseboards and drains, they make things like these and sprays like this, although reviews are mixed on all peppermint oil based products) Honestly, whether you’re home or not doesn’t change if mice are going to come in - if they’re going to they’ll do it regardless of whether it’s occupied or not. Edit: sealing gaps around doors, windows, and baseboards and any tiny gaps or cracks in or around walls, pipes, vents, or drains (even as small as 1cm) is going to help you prevent mice from getting in a lot more
